The Chef and The Winemaker by Resplendent Ceylon

Resplendent Ceylon is proud to welcome Michelin star chef BERND BACHOFER and distinguished New Zealand Winemaker KAI SCHUBERT to Sri Lanka for a culinary sensation.

Celebrate the best of Resplendent Ceylon’s culinary talent and visiting chefs from around the world in a week of table dinners and culinary competitions.

The first week of October will play host to Michelin star chef Bernd Bachofer and distinguished New Zealand Winemaker Kai Schubert.

Thursday 4th October – Wild Coast Tented Lodge at 7.00pm

Friday 5th October – Cape Weligama at 7.00pm

Bernd Bachofer has a passion for Japanese & south-east Asian food which he combines beautifully with elements of classic cuisine. Graduate of the Hotel Academy Heidelberg, Bernd worked in Switzerland and Germany at several Michelin star restaurants before opening his own in 2011, Restaurant Bachofer, near Stuttgart, which was awarded a Michelin star in 2015.

A global search for the perfect conditions for viticulture, especially for Pinot Noir, brought Kai Schubert, graduate of the German Viticulture and Oenology University to the Wairarapa, New Zealand. Schubert vineyards are closely planted and the unique climate produces low yielding, internationally award winning wines with intense and complex character.

Bernd has curated a special six course menu which has been beautifully paired with Schubert wines with the assistance of importers Decanter Wines. These intimate gatherings will be held at the Dining Pavilion at Wild Coast Tented Lodge and the Tableau Restaurant at Cape Weligama.
