Cape Weligama- Now Open!

Dilmah’s leisure arm, Resplendent Ceylon, will open Cape Weligama this September. This stunning new 40 villa and suite cliff top resort on Sri Lanka’s south coast is situated 30 minutes east of Galle, offering exquisite hospitality in a striking oceanfront location.

The resort comprises 40 villas and suites, named after eminent explorers. Wattas (gardens) are collections of two to three villas sharing 15m infinity pools and exotic walled gardens, whilst the four Walauwas (mansions) offer pairs of interconnecting suites near the kid friendly Cove pool. The breathtaking 2 storey 300m2 Cape Weligama Residences boast a 15m pool on the upper floor with stunning ocean views.

The crown jewel of the resort is the crescent-shaped 60m Moon Pool perched 35m over the sea, curving around the cape’s elevated rust-red headland. Experienced therapists carry out tea infused spa treatments in the privacy of your villa. There’s also the second Cove Pool for families, a Cybex equipped gym and top notch Dive Centre.

Dining at Cape Weligama is an experience unrivalled on the south coast. Misaki is the cliff edge Teppanyaki, Pola the seafood restaurant and Kumbuk for al fresco Sri Lankan dining. You can also be wined and dined by butlers ‘at home’ in your villa or suite.

Sri Lanka’s pristine southern region is ripe for exploration; discover the rugged coastline and her hidden bays by kayak, embark on whale watching expeditions and big game fishing in the deep sea or strap on a scuba tank and dive beneath the waves to seek out historic wrecks with our experienced guides. You can also discover the enigmatic charm of authentic local villages.

Like Ceylon Tea Trails, Cape Weligama will be a part of Relais & Chateaux , the Parisian association of the world’s finest hoteliers, chefs and restaurateurs. The resort was designed by renowned Thai architect Lek Bunnag, whose gems include Four Seasons Langkawi, Oberoi Mauritius and the Ritz Carlton Phulay Bay.
