We also offer activities with healthy doses of fun, adventure and pampering, along with a holistic wellness offering for guests to escape their urban life and soothe mind, body, and soul. A selection of engaging activities for families – with a special selection for kids – are on hand as well, to round out the perfect getaway.

Big Day Out – By Air

See and be a part of some uniquely Sri Lankan experiences on this helicopter tour. With a packed picnic breakfast, depart Cape Weligama to the cultural triangle. Depending on guest preference, visit either Sigiriya – the 8th wonder of the world, Dambulla Cave Temple or Pidurangala rock.

Borderlands Adventure Centre at Cape Weligama

Our Adventure Centre, operated by Borderlands, and is located on East Beach, a 5-minute walk from the Cove Pool at Cape Weligama. Plunge into the depths of the ocean to discover a hidden world of colour and life, kayak through the glistening waters or try your hand at SUP boarding. The choice is yours.

Discover Sri Lankan Cuisine – Hosted Culinary Experience

A guided, detailed exploration into the technically complex, sensory layers of Sri Lankan cuisine, hosted by Chef Vinnol. The experience is designed to answer the “why’s” and “how’s” of our cooking, our ingredients, our flavours and our recipes.

Junior Chef

We have a collection of yummy, interactive and immersive culinary experiences for kids with a local twist, tailored for various age levels. Kids enjoy making the local favourite “coconut and treacle pancakes”, or coconut and cinnamon cookies.

Kids Crafts and Adventure

Southern Sri Lanka is famous for arts and crafts, and our adventure centre offers a world of option for active families. Island Colours replicates our famous “batik” craft by painting colourfully on fabric to make home-made shawls, sarongs etc. (great gift for parents!).

Kumbuk Cafe

A must-try Cape Weligama breakfast option to immerse guests into traditional Sri Lankan cuisine. The menu is designed for the traveller who is curious about authentic local fare and isn't shy about being ravenous.

Ocean Safari & Whale Watching

After the monsoon rains in November, the ocean calms to allow us to venture out to the edge of the continental shelf in search of the world’s largest mammal – Blue Whales. While both Sperm and Blue Whales are seen off our coastline, Blue Whales are more common in the south. Our ocean safari is a four-hour excursion (timings may vary depending on sightings) that also gives guests the chance to see a broader range of marine biodiversity such as turtles, rays, dolphins and different types of fish.

Personalised Wellness

The design of the villas and suites, our coastline, and the balmy rural vibe of southern Sri Lanka create the canvas for a wide selection of wellness options for our guests. We broadly categorize them into options linked to rest and relaxation and active-based.

Rural Bike Ride

Take a ride through the leafy, scenic back-roads of a typical southern village that lies inland from Weligama. The trail snakes its way alongside lush rice paddies, rubber and cinnamon estates, small-holder plantations and home gardens, places of worship, rural homes.

Chefs Table

An intimate, "chefs table" style dining experience. Sit around one of our three experienced chefs as they guide you through a degustation menu that is as creative as it is delicious.

The face of the Galle Fort

The walk focuses on the host’s experience of growing up in the Galle Fort and presenting it not as a tourist attraction, but an extension of his “home” – a home filled with history, heritage, cultural integration and soul.

Visit a Tea Plantation – Handunugoda

This is a low-country tea plantation within sniffing distance of the sea, owned by third-generation planter and author Herman Gunarathne. Famed for its ‘virgin white tea’, which retails for over US$1,500/kg, and stocks the shelves of tip-top tea gourmet Mariage Frères in Paris.

Visits to Historic Sites and points of interest

We can arrange unguided visits to places of interest such as Devundara Temple and the Dondra lighthouse, a turtle hatchery, beaches and bays.

Wine-Paired Sunset Cruise

A stone’s throw from Cape Weligama, the village of Weligama is one of our island’s most beautiful bays. Surfers ride waves that roll up to sandy beaches; fishing boats and sunbathing visitors strewn along the beach.
