It is a time-honored annual tradition that everyone at Cape Weligama looks forward to: welcoming the vibrant energy of the students from the MJF Foundation Community Center. This year’s visit to the Forest School at Cape Weligama was nothing short of magical, filled with laughter, learning, and unforgettable memories.

The day was designed to connect the children with nature through interactive play. Immersed in the lush surroundings of the Forest School, the students took part in a series of creative games. They sharpened their observation skills with a color-matching challenge, hunting for nature’s diverse palette hidden in the foliage.

A World of Colour & Creativity

Creativity truly took center stage during the arts and crafts session. Using natural materials gathered from the area such as delicate dried flowers and vibrant fallen leaves, the children let their imaginations run wild, crafting adorable nature-bunnies to take home as keepsakes of their adventure.

Of course, no summer day at Cape Weligama is complete without cooling off! After their forest exploration, the students headed over to the pool. The afternoon was a beautiful blur of splashes, joyful shouts, and pure fun as the kids swam and played games in the water.

Seeing the sheer joy on the children’s faces is a powerful reminder of why this annual tradition is so close to our hearts. It was a day dedicated to letting kids be kids- learning from the earth, expressing their creativity, and making a splash together. We are already counting down the days until next year!
