Peak Ridge Forest Corridor: 2026 Conservation Report
Between August 2025 and January 2026, the Peak Ridge Forest Corridor (PRFC) has continued to demonstrate its immense value as a thriving wildlife sanctuary and a critical link in Sri Lanka’s high-altitude ecosystem.
Monitoring efforts during this period have confirmed a high frequency of wildlife activity, most notably numerous sightings of the elusive Sri Lankan leopard. These sightings captured via remote camera traps, reveal a stable and breeding population. Alongside the leopards, there have been frequent sightings of barking deer and black-naped hares, which serve as vital prey species and are an indication of a healthy and balanced food web within the corridor.
