Sri Lanka’s south coast surf season runs from November to April, when offshore winds and consistent Indian Ocean swells create ideal conditions. During this period, the coastline sees clean, well-formed waves, with mornings bringing glassy surfaces and warm water temperatures of around 27–29°C.

Between December and March, swell consistency is at its peak, delivering reliable surf almost daily and creating a lively, social line-up. October and April offer slightly smaller but often beautifully shaped waves, with fewer surfers in the water making it perfect for beginners.

Selected daily according to wind, tide, and swell direction, sheltered coves often stay clean and glassy even under southwest trade winds, while nearby reef peaks offer more power, longer walls, and dynamic rides suited to intermediate and advanced surfers.
